Nothing weird about it.

It’s just a Finnish tradition – there’s nothing sexual about the sauna: you might even have a business meeting in the sauna, either naked or wrapped in a towel, even if you’re of the opposite genders, and a lot of Finnish people won’t even bat an eye. Nudity =/= sex in Finland, unlike in some other countries.

Yep, going to the sauna is a social situation, as there you can chat with each other while enjoying the warmth of the sauna!! So, it is nothing to be ashamed nor embarrassed of!!

Yes, the sauna is a part of the Finnish soul! There is nothing to be ashamed about, it connects people, just like Nokia (sorry, should ask Nokia for provision, really).
It´s such an old tradition, even our Presidents have invited many Presidents of other countries to Sauna.

If I remember right the 1st. President Bush of US has been invited to a Finnish sauna when visiting Finland. Don´t now for sure if he had the guts to do it, but I believe he did. Many other Presidents of the whole world have been to a Finnish sauna, you can be quite sure of that!
The Finnish sauna is still a very important “forum” for polititians. In the sauna many problems have been solved among politians all over the world visiting Finland.

The sauna makes you relax, and of course, very often the sauna is by a lake, as Finland is a land of thousand lakes, and therefore it´s so tempting and easy to jump into a lake after the sauna.

You can be quite sure that anyone of us gets a good kick out of that! Why no come and try it yourself some day!
One ritual with the sauna is also to enjoy a beer or two, or perhaps coffee with cocnaq, which is also a reason for good commucation between international and Finnish polititians.
The average Finnish families have nowadays a sauna in their homes, just like you have a bathroom, of course we have that too, but the sauna is just so important for us.

We usually go to the sauna on a Friday or during the weekend.
In the early 20th. Century women gave birth in a sauna. That´s of course not so anymore.
Three Finnish words which have been “exported” to the world are: sauna, sisu (guts) and Sibelius, the composer (happens to be his 100th birthday today).
It takes some “sisu” guts to go to a Finnish sauna, but I´m quite sure you would enjoy it and feel relaxed.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Santaland!
