i’ve a sauna in my home in LA that I need to relocate up to Santa Clara. It has 220 electrical. ?
The home I need to relocate it to has an old circuit breaker container but has a lot of outlets in the car garage including a 240v for the dryer. I’m surprise how simple it would be to mount a 220 plug in the car garage? And how much it would cost. I’m on a budget.
The heater directions say this brand uses 8.0 Kilowatt and 208 V. Please assist! Thanks a bunch, Carisa

Even though you are on a budget, I would not attempt electrical work on your own. There are too many things that can go wrong and can burn your house down! I would consult with electricians and see what they would bid to do the job.
How much to add a plug all depends on what and where the electrical is and how to run it out to the garage/or where you want to put this thing. It would be hard for anyone on YA to guesstimate how much it would cost.

Don’t thin you can use the same wiring, you would have to look at the amps, The Gage of wiring used depends on the amps of the appliance most driers use 30 amps and the saunas usually take 60 amps so the wire will have to be thicker. On the price depends how far away from the Main electrical box the sauna is and how much labor is involved, the parts are not expensive.
You should also look at your main breakers they should be at least 200 AMPS

You need to have a couple/few electricians come out and give you estimates for the work.
You will need to have a dedicated breaker available for the sauna’s line (just like the dryer has).
A qualified electrician can tell you if it can be done with the existing service and breaker box, or if it is a major electrical rewiring & new breaker box to do it.

40 amps, or almost.
u need an electrician.
the sauna will likely blow your dryer fuse if you connect it to that.

About 200 for an electrician.
About 50 in parts if you want to do it yourself. I am a DYI’er, but I have a lot of experience and basically do everything I am strong enough for. However, even I find installing new circuit breakers rather scary. Do not even attempt this unless you have the right tools to make sure there is no current at all when you are working.
